With roots that extend back to 1685, we seek to offer an unparalleled experience that is both modern and historic.
Our wines reflect the unique character of Constantia, crafted from grapes grown on our estate. From fresh, vibrant whites to elegant reds, there’s something for every palate.
Enjoy the crisp Sauvignon Blanc, textured Semillon, and layered Natura Vista. At the heart of our range is the Chardonnay Reserve
— our flagship wine — offering rich, full-bodied complexity.
The Constantia Red showcases the balance and depth of our estate-grown reds, perfect for cooler evenings.
We also offer a select range under the Ex Oppido label, made from grapes sourced beyond the estate, including a refined Chardonnay, a dry Rosé, and two expressive red blends: Red Horizon and Red Tableau.
Each bottle is a celebration of our craft and terroir.

In 1685, Simon van der Stel recognized the potential of the decomposed granite and sandstone soils in the sheltered valley facing False Bay, bounded by sea on both sides. It’s why he chose this area to plant the first vines in Southern Africa.
Here, beneath the rich sandstone slopes of Table Mountain, the crisp Atlantic ocean breeze and the gentle climate have all combined to create consistently exceptional wines for the past 3 centuries.
Being the lowest lying farm in the valley, Constantia Uitsig’s rich, fertile soils are ideal for producing world-class whites (like Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay). Our growing conditions also provide the optimal weather for producing optimal wines.
There is usually a slow build-up to summer, followed by a mild sunny season that benefits from crisp Atlantic breezes that help to cool the vineyards off and keep them dry.
We try to work as naturally as possible: cover cropping, mulching, as well as using integrated pest management programs. Flowers play a central theme at Uitsig too – welcoming a diversity of beneficial insects and bright colours to the vineyards whilst our farm-made compost enriches the soil.
Area currently under vine:
17 hectares.
The winery is a key part of constantia Uitsigs’ eco-system. This newly built state of the art 300-ton facility is the powerhouse behind all the winemaking that happens on the farm. The spectacular glass building is a great feature that allows us to use natural light and therefore consume less power.
While the winery uses the latest in wine-making equipment and is very futuristic, the barrel room is token to Constantia Uitsigs rich history and showcases the old world of wine making.
The vintage oak barrels are used in the process of wine making on the farm to this day.

Estian’s passion for winemaking is apparent in the wines Constantia Uitsig produces. As early as 2012 he completed harvest season in France gathering important experience and knowledge in one of the most renowned wine regions in the world. Five years later he qualified with a degree in Viticulture and Oenology from Elsenburg in Stellenbosch. He spent the early part of his career at Anthonij Rupert Wines in his capacity as assistant winemaker, before joining the Constantia Uitsig team in July 2023. When he’s not in the cellar Estian loves exploring new wines as well as spending time with friends whether it's at a braai, watching rugby, or enjoying a round of golf.
